Filmmaker Cassandra Nicolaou was born in Toronto and is a graduate of the University of Waterloo (English Literature) and the Canadian Film Centre’s Directors’ Lab. Her films have screened around the world, at festivals very big (Toronto IFF, Sydney IFF) and quite small (Bologna Women’s FF). They’ve also been licensed for broadcast and video distribution throughout North America, the UK and France. Show Me, Nicolaou’s first feature film, was released theatrically and on DVD in Canada, the US and Spain. Her new feature, Kristy Kachowski: Lesbian Nerd, is being developed with Anagram Pictures (Vancouver).
Nicolaou is currently fond of Rufus Wainwright and his sister Martha, Nancy Huston, the Kashmere Stage Band and their track ‘Super Bad’, and this café.
