Filmmaker Cassandra Nicolaou was born in Toronto and is a graduate of the University of Waterloo (English Literature) and the Canadian Film Centre’s Directors’ Lab. Her films have screened around the world, at festivals very big (Toronto IFF, Sydney IFF) and quite small (Bologna Women’s FF). They’ve also been distributed throughout North America, the UK, Germany and France. Show Me, Nicolaou’s first feature film, was released theatrically and on DVD in Canada, the US and Spain. She has recently worked in documentary - producing and directing a film about the all-female cast of an award-winning production of "Top Girls" - and is just completing a short film inspired by Elizabeth Bishop and starring Megan Follows.

Nicolaou is currently fond of Sharon Van Etten, Elizabeth Bishop and her watercolours too, the Leslie Spit birders and this coffee joint.
